Today we were once again up at the hospital - a place we now feel is our second home. During the appointment, Sutton got to see his primary neonatologist, Dr. Hayes, that attended to him while he was in the NICU. It was quite the reunion - Sutton remembered her right away! She evaluated his health, growth, and development. Sutton's motor skills were on par and he was able to play games and interact with all the toys she provided. He weighed in at 11 pounds and 7 ounces, and measured 22 1/2 inches long. That may seem tiny for a 6 month old, but that's really healthy and big for a three month old boy. She also gave Brad and I an opportunity to ask questions about Sutton's behavior, development, and health. All in all, it was a pretty fun field trip for Sutton!
We also got a chance to stop in the NICU and see some familiar faces. It was great to reconnect with old friends and staff, and they were amazed at how much Sutton had grown in his short time away from the NICU. And you know what? He had grown. I had grown. And with or without the adjusted age factor, I just felt so blessed to have a happy, healthy, thriving little man in my life. Even if he did spit up on my favorite shoes.
