When His Middle Name was started in the Spring of 2011, it was just a simple expression of our journey with a premature child told through my eyes. There was no goal in sight, no plan to take it any further than a blog where I expressed my thoughts and feelings. Never in my wildest dreams did I glimpse what it would become; the growth that two years time would provide. The blog has since birthed a Facebook page, a Twitter page, been featured in newspapers, women's magazines and parenting websites and become active with the March of Dimes. His Middle Name has also grown it’s mission to support not only preemie parents, but those parents that have suffered a loss or stillbirth and women who have experienced pregnancy complications. All of this to my amazement but serving as credence to why I started it in the first place: to heal my heart and hopefully validate the experience of others.

In His Middle Name’s first year as a blog, it was nominated for a WEGO Health Activist Award. It has been anonymously nominated every year since, and this year is no exception. I am so delighted to share that for the third year in a row His Middle Name has been nominated for the WEGO “Best Kept Secret” award! The WEGO Health Activist Awards were created to recognize and honor those making a difference in the online health community. With categories such as “Best in Show” and “Rookie of the Year,” WEGO makes a point to make the awards fun to celebrate the bloggers who are dedicated in their passion to share their experiences and advice. I couldn’t be more proud to be apart of this community of leaders, bloggers and tweeters who are actively involved in changing the face of health activism. As the year comes to a close and we prepare our hearts for Christmas day, I am so delighted that meaningful friendships have been forged and healing has taken place by way of His Middle Name. Thank you all for the love and support over the past year, and for sharing your photos, experiences and dreams with me and the His Middle Name family. I want to encourage you to keep asking questions and sharing precious memories on the His Middle Name Facebook page – it’s the smallest way to advocate for yourself and for your little one, and maybe one of the most gratifying. Just share what is in your hearts. Write, talk, reflect, grieve and celebrate your life! Whether you’ve been on this journey with me from day one or if you’ve just stumbled upon our little community, I pray for you that all roads lead home this holiday.

I’m a southern gal to the core who lives for my family, has a serious weakness for chocolate, a penchant for anything that can be monogrammed and loves to craft and sew. Thank you for your interest and welcome to His Middle Name!
