There has been a non-stop flurry of activity surrounding the Lubin family the last couple of weeks – from Sutton’s baptism to a family wedding in Florida and the conclusion of Team His Middle Name’s fundraising for the March for Babies 2013, I don’t think I’ve sat down for a second! Yes, all of this while sick with a nasty cold and the desperate longing for my bed. I am so proud of Team His Middle Name for raising $660 of the $1,000 goal that was set in January. I am truly humbled by the donations that flooded in over the last couple of months and so very thankful to every family member, dear friend, coworker and business that donated to our team’s success this year. Rest assured that the money you’ve donated is already supporting research and it is because of your generosity that Team His Middle Name is able to help more babies get a healthy start in life! Sadly, I didn’t get the chance to walk this year due to a small procedure I had done to stop some pain and bleeding that I was having (yep, that’s a whole ‘nother post). But you can bet your bottom dollar that I’m already planning for next year’s walk and brainstorming some new ideas for fundraising. Go preemies go!
Another way His Middle Name is helping is just by offering a little guidance and direction for new parents! Just like every other parent out there, Brad and I registered and bought every gadget out there that promised to ease the transition of becoming new parents. Very quickly we realized that much of it was “fluff,” and that our son was more entertained playing with an empty box rather than the wonderful (and often times expensive) gift on the inside! We learned as we went along, taking advice solicited from friends and dismissing some of it that just didn’t work for us. Sooner or later, we found our groove and “style” as parents. Ofcourse we couldn't do it alone, and there were a handful of tried and tested items that we absolutely loved and felt we couldn’t live without! As I get ready to become an auntie for the eleventh time (my sister is due at the end of May), it became even more important for me to share my mommy must-haves. Thanks to ParentMap Magazine … I was able to do just that!
