Good afternoon to all of the His Middle Name family, friends and fans! I am exhausted (the good kind!) from the holiday weekend, and I hope each and every one of you had a blessed Easter and Passover. We Lubins got to celebrate the holiday weekend in Florida with our parents and all of my sisters and their families. Me and my sisters had what we call a "sister day" on Saturday, where just the girls were pampered and then yesterday we had a delicious Easter brunch after church service. Sutton was especially thrilled to visit with his cousins and I don't think he sat down once as they all giggled and played non-stop. It truly could not have been a more perfect way to celebrate a holiday that we hold dear for so many reasons, and among the pageantry and splendor, it gave me a moment to "plug in" with my faith. Today I feel restored from the inside out, and there is a great peace that has come over my heart. No matter where you are in your journey, no matter your circumstances - that is the kind of peace I hope for you.

For all of my blog-stalkers, you'll be happy to learn I have a few different posts coming within the next few weeks! With the March of Dimes March for Babies coming up this weekend and Parents of Preemies Day right on it's coattails,
I will have much to write about! I will also be posting a Part II to the blog post I shared last month to update those curious about Sutton's journey so far with RAD (Reactive Airway Disease). I encourage anyone who has a child with RAD to stay connected to His Middle Name, as I hope we can support and encourage each other through such a troubling disease. Brad and I finally feel like we are getting a routine down regarding Sutton's treatments and medication, and I will be happy to share any tips or suggestions I may have on how to make RAD less of a burden and more of a means to achieve health.

Speaking of health, did you know that it's Fibroid Awareness Week? Yep, that's right - tomorrow kicks off an educational week that may start the conversation that can change your life! If you're new to His Middle Name you may be asking yourself why I would be sharing such an observation on a preemie parent support site, but if you know anything about our story or how Sutton came into this world, then you know that our experience with prematurity is almost synonymous with fibroid tumors. This week is especially personal to me after three dear friends in the last year have had surgeries that resulted in the removal of their fibroids (with one of those surgeries being life-saving!). While most Uterine Fibroid Tumors are benign (not cancerous), fibroids can still cause significant health problems including excessive menstrual bleeding, anemia, abdominal swelling, pelvic pain, constipation, frequent urination and even infertility. Because women are often encouraged not to speak of such things and more often than not are too busy putting their careers or the health of their families before their own needs, these tumors are often left untreated until they begin causing severe symptoms. Well enough is enough of that stale attitude! To be a capable and healthy woman you have to care for yourself enough to ask the tough questions and explore your options that are suitable for you and your lifestyle. That's why Fibroid Awareness Week is so important, as it gives you the opportunity to educate yourself and find treatment options that best suit YOU. All women are different, and there are many different treatment options out there if you suffer from Uterine Fibroid Tumors. I encourage all women of child-bearing age to see their primary gynecologist for a proper screening and if you'd like to learn more about fibroids, you can always visit His Middle Name's FAQ page here or take part in this week's free webinar here. Here's to health in 2014!
