Hip hip hooray! I know it's Spring Break for so many, but I just wanted to share some exciting news before you rush off to the beach. I was selected for an interview by Len Saunders a couple of weeks ago and today the interview is featured on his website! This is HUGE because Len Saunders is a big name in the field of children's health and wellness. He's interviewed everybody from famous athletes and celebrities to world famous doctors and has been featured on Good Morning America and MSNBC, so you can imagine my excitement when he wanted to interview little ol' me!
Len Saunders is best known for his efforts to take on child obesity, and started the very successful Project Aces, an event in which millions of school children worldwide exercise simultaneously in May each year. The interview is a part of his web series "The Role Model in You" in which guests answer questions about their health role models and discuss their inspiration as a health leader. I am humbled and honored to have been selected and excited about His Middle Name being linked to the interview, as it's just another platform to reach more women and parents from a larger platform. I would especially like to thank Len Saunders for taking the time to get to know me and choosing me as his headliner today. If interested, you can read the interview here.

The countdown has begun! I am thrilled to share my excitement for one of the most celebrated days of the year for parents of preemies and their caretakers: Parents of Preemies Day! This Sunday, March 10, Parents of Preemies Day will be observed world wide to celebrate the courageous and resilient parents of the NICU and beyond, and Graham's Foundation is leading the way! Graham's Foundation, an organization that promotes the well-being of preemie parents by providing emotional and practical support, has been advocating for the smallest of babies since 2009. In the two years since His Middle Name was started, Graham's Foundation has personally been one of my biggest cheerleaders! They have helped empower me to grow His Middle Name and advocate for my son, and in turn, the children of other parents that have been through the roller coaster ride that is the NICU. Whether your child was born five weeks early or 15 weeks early, your NICU stay six days or six months - this day is for you!
There are so many ways in which to celebrate this wonderful day, and His Middle Name and Graham's Foundation are teaming up to spread the word! Below is a fun list of ways you can personalize the day for you and honor yourself or the preemie parent in your life:

  • Visit Graham's Foundation's Parents of Preemies Day Facebook page and post a picture of you and your preemie along with your story of Hope, Resilience & Miracles.
  • Send an email to graphicdesign@grahamsfoundation.org with your story and picture attached. Your submission will become a part of their Hope, Resilience & Miracles banner to be unveiled on Parents of Preemies Day.
  • Help spread the word, especially among your friends and family! Download badges and banners for your personal use or simply have them become a fan of His Middle Name's Facebook page!
  • Register to attend an event in your area or host a party! If there is no event in your area, register for Graham's Foundation's March 10 Twitter chat for a chance to win a Proud Parent of a Preemie prize package full of goodies that let you show your preemie parent pride!
  • Wear your Proud Preemie Parent Gear or the color purple on March 10th to celebrate!
  • Celebrate with new preemie parents by taking a gift to your local NICU (like bagels, candy, cards or other treats) on March 10th. I'm sure you remember what it was like in the NICU, and every little care package helps!
  • Take pictures of yourself and your family and friends celebrating Parents of Preemies Day and post them on His Middle Name's Facebook page!

Most importantly, enjoy being a parent to your miracle baby! Talk about it, share your experience on the His Middle Name Facebook page or simply take time to reflect and be prayerful. I've said it many times, but I am so grateful that I have this website and blog to share my feelings, struggles and triumphs because sharing it with you has truly healed me. If you suffered a loss in the NICU or got to bring your baby home, my wish for you this Sunday is to know that you are special, strong and celebrated. Happy Parents of Preemies Day!
